The Greatest Bookstore in the World

Before today, I just assumed that the greatest bookstore in the world was Powell’s in Portland, Oregon. It has all the press, it’s huge, friends recommend it, and I enjoy their e-newsletter.

Powell’s may be amazing, but thanks to alert reader Frank W., I learned about a new bookstore today. My friends, I present to you the greatest bookstore in the world:

Al Ateneo in Buenos Aires has to be the most stunning, majestic bookstore I’ve ever seen. Can you imagine visiting this place? How could you not walk out with an armful of books? This is coming from a guy who adores his Kindle.

For more of the most interesting bookstores in the world, go here. And be sure to check out my growing list of the best cities in the world for writers.
