Pet Please #6: Windshield Wiper Fluid

April 8, 2009

windshield-wipersI don’t know how often other people wash their cars; for me, it’s about twice a year. A good rain keeps the outside clean enough.

Like it or not, though, grime accumulates. It builds up so slowly that I don’t even notice that my vision through the windshield is become decreasingly worse.

Then, usually by sheer luck, I remember the lever that releases the wiper fluid.

It is glorious.

The clarity is immediate. I’m sure you’ve all seen the results. And when it happens, you can’t help but think that you just washed your car. Washed the only part that really matters, at least.

Think about that. Our cars have built-in car washes.

There is nothing more pleasing than this. (Well, okay, five things, but #6 ain’t too shabby.)

On the opposing end, the worst is when a scissor-tailed flycatcher (or really any bird) relieves itself of your windshield while you’re driving through Kansas. You reach for the level and you’re out of windshield wiper fluid. Blue sky over plains for miles and miles, next exit in 40 miles, “No facilities.” As if driving through Kansas isn’t bad enough already.

Yeah, I think any bird would apply there. 🙂
