Potent Quotables

August 31, 2008

Okay, I have to share this. Plus I’m lazy and don’t feel like writing much tonight. This little bit from the August issue of GQ made me laugh outloud. It’s from an interview with Russell Brand, the English actor who played the titular character’s wacky new boyfriend in Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

The Funniest Word: “It’s not a word, it’s two words–digital manipulation, the process wherein a nurse, using her index finger, digs excrement out of an elderly patient’s rectum to assist defecation.”

Worst Performance: “Edinburgh Festival, 2001. I was dragged from the stage by the security at the gig, thrown through a plate-glass door, and taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with blood pulsing out of my leg. I had seen a documentary not long before about nurses offering digital manipulation as an extra service. I requested it. It was denied.”

I can’t belive my mother is going to read this.
